Last week I went to three classes at my gym: Zumba, Dance Fitness and Cardio Dance. Zumba is hard and nearly killed me but was a good work-out. I mean, I'm a total spaz, but that's another story. Dance Fitness is like half dance (and it's hip-hop and I want to feel like I look like my bad-ass teacher when really I look like a fat white lady trying to have rhythm) and then half 'spot work' - abs, legs, etc. Cardio Dance was a freaking riot, it was like Fame! with Debbie Allen telling us we better WORK! and then saying things like "from the top in 4, 3, 2, 1....!". The class was different than the others because instead of learning the moves on the fly, the entire class was spent 'building' a dance and learning each step and doing it over and over and over. I think I can still remember a lot of last week's routine! Anyway, even though the teacher was a complete wacko (she was wearing fur boots?) I think I'll do it again.
This week I wasn't able to make Zumba but I walked on the treadmill that day and then did Dance Fitness. Cardio Dance is Sunday so we'll see.
I actually really like the Gym I joined but many of the classes I want to take are at times I can't take them (or require reservations which I never seem to get). Because of that I looked at my Town's Recreation offerings for the Summer and I have a couple of new contenders:
Aqua Jog
Aqua Zumba
Cardio Tennis
Regular Zumba
That's only *some* of the fitness classes they offer - who knew?! You have to pay but it's reasonable for Residents and I think the pool ones sound especially fun, different and kind to my very achy joints.
Here are some pictures of Aqua Zumba from the interwebz:

Why do I think that my reality will be more like this:

Water aerobics is my favorite "class" ever. I think you'll really enjoy it.
