I haven't had anything like this in nearly a month. I had my one month (even though I'm only just over 3 week) f/u with Nutritionist and Surgeon today and they advanced my diet. I can have toasted bread - what?! I can have new proteins like PB. I AM IN HEAVEN. Thing is, I know it's really easy to fall into having starchy carbs all the time and I'm going to try really hard to stay as protein-focused as I have been. In fact, she wants me to up my protein since I'm really not hitting the numbers I need to be (but, I don't really want to eat anymore, so it's hard...).
But this. This lovely thing is delicious, and I'm trying to savor every mouthful. I have my timer set for a bite every two minutes. She also really wants me to focus on taking 20-30 mins to eat. That is easier said than done when you're eating such small amounts at a time. I'm sorry, it doesn't take a half-hour to eat one egg. But, I'll try.
Anyway, it's really exciting to get the green light on new foods (I've been eating the same three meals every day for 3 weeks and was super bored) but it's also scary. I am trying to learn to trust that this time WILL work. This time is different. It's not just me battling this, I have my new stomach helping too - - and I don't think he'd let me go back and have another half muffin even if I wanted it.
