First Holiday: Check!

I survived my first post-sleeve Holiday!

What exactly did I miss out on food-wise and what did I actually eat?  We had three meals together over the weekend: two dinners and breakfast.  My BIL made marinated flank steak and garlic bread for dinner.  Two of my favorites, obviously.  I made breakfast and made another favorite breakfast casserole with bagels/toppings on the side.  The last dinner was pork roast, mashed potatoes and other sides.  Oh, and homemade cupcakes, cookies and brownies and lots and lots of Easter candy.

What did I eat?  Dinner #1 I had my protein shake before I went and then ate a turkey meatball I'd made and have written about before.   For Breakfast I made my own scrambled eggs.  For the second dinner I had a small bit of mashed potatoes.

Now, it won't always be like this but I'm only 3 weeks post-op.  If this was a year from now I could have had (some) of the steak, breakfast casserole and pork roast.  I probably would have had some of the carbs b/c it was a Holiday but I am really trying to cut them out as much as possible.  I was really *only* 'allowed' to have the mashed potatoes because I'm still on the soft foods diet and they are allowed.

So, yea it sucked to smell and see all that yummy food and not get to have any but, the Holiday was far from ruined as a result.  I still got to spend lots of time with my family, and their families, and it was a great time :)
