My surgery was yesterday morning. Jim and I drove down and we're greeted like royalty on the 3rd floor. All those tears doing biopsies with that floor paid off with some VIP treatment. Per my surgeon went perfectly, but I found it very rough coming out of sedation. I remember waking up in so much pain and just saying "ow, ow, ow...". The staff was super cool and let him stay all afternoon rather than observe the strict visiting hours.
I had a lot of pain and I was dosing off my pump every 10 mins trying to get ahead of it. They had me on a CPAP too so it was just very uncomfortable with. When they tried me on room air I couldn't maintain my O2 sat. I was just so very drowsy that I couldn't stay awake enough to breathe effectively. So back on went the CPAP and I was there all day. Around 4 Jim left to do Daddy duty and around 5:30 they had me get up and walk and I did two laps! It felt good to walk!
Around 6pm I finally got into my room and relaxed. My night was fitful sleep, vitals, administering meds and walking.
I'm getting tired but to finish out today I had to go for a contrast swallow test. It took for-ever but I passed meaning getting moved to Bariatric Clears. I was on clears over the weekend and then NPO from midnight Sunday night until today.
Here's my first meal:
I ate a bite of jello and that didn't feel so good so I am sticking with drinking. It's crazy to really feel food and drink going in!

I'm glad to hear things seem to be going well. Lots of thoughts still headed your way.
