Well, I had my medical clearance with my PCP today. Thankfully since I just had bloods, EKG, etc done at the Surgeon's office two days ago she didn't make me re-do any of that. She just took my vitals and went through a pre-op checklist (have I had surgery before, allergies to latex, etc etc).
Also, we went over my medication list and made some necessary changes. The anti-depressant I take is a long-acting pill that can't be crushed but it's too large (larger than a pencil eraser) to take after surgery. So I will have to take two of the lower dose smaller pill. She also wants me to keep taking the Met.formin. Fine. The bad news is she also added a blood pressure medication to my list today.
"Normal" BP for me, for a while, has been 140s/90s, which my hypertension physician husband will tell you is borderline high. Not great, but not alarming. Anyway, I was freaking out the morning of the surgical appt and my BP was like 152/110. Not good. However my pulse was also through the roof so they attributed the sudden jump to nerves. Today though it was 140/100. D'oh. She's been toying with the idea of treating me for it since October and has given me time to see what it does (she was a new Doc as of October) and to establish a real baseline. Now that it's higher, she's like we have to treat it. Grrrrrreat.
That's now 3 pills I take on a daily basis. Three. I am 35. This surgery can't come fast enough and hopefully I'll be able to, in time, get off all of them.
Next steps: I am DONE with all my pre-requisites Wahoo! Now the (not very bright) assistant at the Surgeon's office just has to remember to get everything together and submit it for pre-approval to my insurance so my tentative date can become a confirmed date.
24 days. Holy cow.
